Caution: Work-in-Progress. I strongly advise against printing this part! It's simply a waste of filament. Instead, build the metal version outlined below in the update from May 2020. I created a proof-of-concept replacement part for a Fiskars weed removal tool. The lower section was damaged and I replaced it with a 3D-printed version. Unfortunately, it cracked after only a few uses. Perhaps printing it with ABS would have provided better strength than the PETG I used in this case. Maybe my setting of 0.4 layer height wasn't the optimal choice for strength. I'm providing the source file so you can adapt it as needed. The holes for the screws visible in the picture were drilled into the design and should be added properly. Here's what I've done so far: - Pressed out the original pins from the broken original part - Pressed those parts into the printed replacement part (at this point, I already noticed a crack, which is why I drilled holes for reinforcement screws) - Used the part a few times until I spotted a crack. Update 14th of May 2020. I've changed the concept and made the part out of four steel angles. This seems to be much more robust and easy to make. You only need a proper drilling machine. I took four 90-degree metal angles, eight M5 screws for connecting the four angles, four M6 screws for fixing the moving parts. The M6 screws are shafted ones to ensure a proper bearing surface. They had longer shafts than needed and were threaded to fit properly. I ground away a bit from the angles with an angular grinder (see pictures) to allow for smooth movement of the two upper moving parts. The bores were directly derived from the scad model I made. See attached sketches for drilling positions of the angles. H represents the height of the bore. The metal version seems to work reasonably well. The only drawback is that the original ejector no longer fits. But I'm working on a solution for this issue.
