Fishing Lure Collection #1
thingiverse
Fishing has long been my number one passion. This summer I decided to combine two favorite hobbies into one exciting project by crafting a few fishing lures. My success with these lures is evident in the accompanying photos. I'm hoping you'll experience similar luck. These prints were created at .15mm layer height with 10% infill using white PLA material. I've just begun experimenting with airbrushing, but it seems the fish are unfazed by my attempts. A dwg file for creating through wires is included if you have inventor and can make use of it. To create these, I print them out on paper at a 1:1 scale, then glue them to a piece of 1/4" aluminum. At each bend, I drill a 1/8" diameter hole before inserting a 1/8" peg (which I made by cutting the heads and tip off a roofing nail). To help bend the wire around the peg for a precise fit, I designed a small tool that uses 3D printed parts. If there's enough interest in this project (please leave a comment), I can share details on how to make the tool. The necessary 3D printed parts are also available if needed. A photo of a bent up wire using this technique is included for your reference. Please note that the picture shows a wire from another project, not one of the lures in this collection. I'm hoping you'll have as much fun creating, painting, and catching fish as I do.
