Fishbowl Fortress
thingiverse
Keep cats out of the fishbowl with this unique lid design! The series of defensive walls discourages curious felines from taking a closer look. The gentle curve of the collar around the lid makes it difficult for cats to lift it off (it has to be precisely centered to remove, which demands more agility than most cats possess), and the "stronghold" facings on either side limit the angle of removal. Cats will have to use all their strength to pry it from beneath. The idea is that humans can effortlessly lift it off from above, but cats will struggle to remove it with sufficient leverage combined with fine motor skills. The towers stick out enough above the top structure that flat objects like books can safely be placed on top without restricting air supply for the fish. Follow these instructions carefully to build this creative design: Laser-cut all parts from 3 millimeter thick acrylic material. Some give is built into the design (sorry, I didn't provide a way to customize), so the material can handle up to about 3.3mm thickness without compromising structural integrity. Bond the "lid" section together using two square pieces and four diagonally arranged struts. The grate on top serves as the lid's surface while the larger hole is positioned at the bottom. Bond the lid to the two tall, castle-shaped parts. This union can be quite tight, even if materials match exactly, so you may need to tap them gently together to align them correctly. Clamp everything securely in place and wait patiently according to your chosen bonding process requirements.
