Fish Tank Lip Seedling Troughs

Fish Tank Lip Seedling Troughs

I set out to design a system utilizing the lip on my fish tank for seedling germination during the winter months, taking advantage of the abundant light, warmth and humidity. I chose small open-bottomed pots for easier extraction of the seedlings once they've germinated. Excess water drains into the trough without overflowing. Printing in ABS is advised but I successfully printed in PLA with impressive results! The trough features arms designed to latch securely onto 6mm glass or perspex, preventing accidental knocking into the open tank. A slightly larger lip on the front side helps prevent individual pots from being knocked in as well. I've primarily used these for germinating cactus and succulent plants, but if you achieve success with other types, please share your experiences in the comments below. Feel free to offer suggestions or propose design improvements. - Tesfurdo Print Settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer Model: Printrbot Plus Rafts: Irrelevant Supports: Unnecessary Infill: 100% Notes: I aim to print at a layer height of 200 for PLA, which creates a tighter seal between layers and reduces the risk of water leaks that could harm my fish tank.
