Fish Tail Point. XCB-105-3901. 400 BCE-100 CE XCB-105 Adamagan, meaning "place of walrus hunters" in Aleut, sits atop Morzhovoi Bay on the western Alaska Peninsula. This massive village thrives with diverse occupations. At its peak from 400 BCE to 100 CE, it was the Arctic's largest village, estimated to be home to a thousand people. Further excavations reveal limited occupations dating back to 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts result from research funded by grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, NSF 1321411. H. Maschner leads the investigation as Principal Investigator. The artifacts were captured using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Data processing occurred in Geomagic or Polyworks. Two to eight photos were utilized for texture mapping in Geomagic Wrap. Initial digitization took place at the IVL, Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage.
