Fish Tail Point XCB-105-3155, a site of profound significance, spans 400 BCE to 100 CE. Located at Adamagan, an Aleut term meaning place of walrus hunters, on the western Alaska Peninsula, this massive village was home to multiple thriving occupations. At its peak, it boasted an estimated 1,000 residents, making it the largest Arctic village in existence during that era. Archaeological evidence also reveals limited occupations dating back to 2,200-1,700 BCE, 1,000-600 BCE, and 900-1,100 CE. The research behind these Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts was made possible by grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), specifically NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. Dr. H. Maschner served as Principal Investigator on this project. The artifacts were captured using either the Faro Edge Arm or the Minolta Vivid 9i scanner. Subsequent processing was carried out in Geomagic and Polyworks software, with textures added through Geomagic Wrap using 2-8 photos each.
