Fish Hook - Satkirat

Fish Hook - Satkirat

sketchfab

This artifact is a Fishing Hook. It appears rusted, weighing just a few ounces and measuring about the size of my palm. Its shiny blackish grey color hints at years of wear and tear, with visible signs of deterioration that suggest it may break apart into tiny pieces of ash at any moment. The condition of this artifact is both okay and bad at the same time. This Fishing Hook likely dates back to when Fort Vancouver was built, making its origins a direct connection to the fort itself. In all likelihood, it was crafted in the blacksmith shop where steel and iron were melted and shaped into various items like nails, fishhooks, and traps. Fishermen or villagers would have used this fishing hook to go fishing and catch their dinner. Notably, this artifact bears a striking resemblance to modern Fishing Hooks. One thing that this artifact can reveal about its history is the distinct differences between an old fishing hook and a new one.
