fischertechnik LCD 2004 and 1604 housing
thingiverse
Updated 4/11/2024 with housings for larger size 2004 LCDs fischertechnik models can be controlled by a variety of micro-controllers and using I2C to drive an external display is often desirable. Two common and affordable LCD displays are the 1604 (4 line, 16 characters) and 2004 (4 lines, 20 characters). A fischertechnik compatible housing was made for the for both the 1604 and 2004. The external dimensions of the housing are 105 x 75mm, and slits are present on one side (2004) or two sides (1604, 2004). In the inside there are mounts for the display, for the 1604 version a small hole has to be drilled suitable for the chosen parker screw. The 2004 version has pre-existing 2.3 mm holes. There is also a hole on the side where a 6 pin IDC socket can be glued or alternatively only wires can be used. I have bent the connection pins on the I2C display adapter backwards to provide more room for Dupont plugs or soldering. It is recommended to use the following cable convention:Pin 1 = GNDPin 2 = 5VPin 5 = SDAPin 6 = SCLthis provides compatibility with the TX, TXT and ftDuino.see also: https://harbaum.github.io/ftduino/www/manual/controller.html#1.2.6Update 4/11/2024Designs for larger sizes 2004 LCD displays have been added. The standard size (smallest, mini) measures 60x98mm, the midsize (midi) 62.5x146mm and the large size (maxi) 90x183mm, all above dimensions of the PCB.
