The Fischertechnik solar power modules, such as this one (2V x 200mA = 0.4W), are often too weak under non-ideal conditions to achieve meaningful results. A more powerful alternative is the 1W module (6V x 166mA), which can be easily chained with others to reach the required level of power. This module uses a 60x110x2.5mm solar panel, available on eBay international shops for a small price. Along with the printed part, you will need male and female pin headers. To increase power further, two adjacent modules can be connected using a simple two-pin 15mm male header in the middle position or a male-male dupont cable.
