First-Surface Drain
thingiverse
This is a bulkhead fitting I designed to add drains to a series of buckets or troughs. It's intended to attach lengths of garden hose to the outlet barbs. The drain can fit through a 3/4 to 1 inch hole in any flat container wall up to 1 inch thick - perfect for swimming pools, barrels, ponds, fish tanks, and more. I call this design "first surface," meaning it looks visually appealing and can be printed without additional supports. For those curious about the term, check out my project instructions tab. This model is also featured on my projects blog here: https://theheadlesssourceman.wordpress.com/2015/04/24/first-surface-drain/ Instructions I successfully printed this design using Makerbot with PLA and 20% infill at a 2-shells setup, and 0.30 layer height. You'll need to cut off the support fin(s) from the barbs after printing, using a razor blade or file as shown in the photo.
