First scan of Rich with Sense

This is a full scale scan of me done on the first night of using my Cubify Sense scanner. It was only cleaned and trimmed in the Sense software. Ideally, I would take this file and do some sculpting to work on the definition of features. It turned out pretty decent. My experience is that the Sense scanner is good for people. Not super precise but easy to use on people. The short cable is an issue, but you can use an extender. If you want a full 360, you best bet is a turntable or windows table if you have one or some "rig" for carrying your laptop around while you scan like one of those cigarette ladies at clubs from old movies on TCM. Comparing it to Kinect with Recontructme, the Sense software is more complete in that you can easily edit within the software and output a watertight mesh. The color output is not precise enough to be useful other than on large objects. Something like a cereal box will look like you have cataracts. People are ok, but I did not get it for the color, I needed a low cost easy to use solution that does a good job on people. I am thinking of getting some +2, +3 reading glasses like people have used on the Kinect and Carmine and see if it helps with small objects. Instructions Unless you have a giant printer, you will need to scale to fit. Of course, if you have a CNC, feel free to scan this old man full scale. Otherwise it should be watertight and ready to go.
