For their 2014 Aerial Assist robot, FRC Team 2445 employed two gearboxes to rotate the intake arm. The gearboxes featured a Denso window motor within a 3D printed ABS housing, which contained Andy Mark Toughbox gears, shafts and bearings. Connecting these elements was a 3D printed coupler linking the window motor output to a small hex shaft. Attached to an aluminum mounting plate, this two-stage gearbox boasted an overall 12.8 gear ratio, including a VEX potentiometer on its output shaft. Both Andy Mark and VEX parts were derived from STEP files provided by their respective suppliers.
