First Order Stormtrooper Armor
thingiverse
Major kudos go out to Deafjamb for posting armor pieces and making them available for everyone to use. Ducampv also deserves credit for the helmet pieces, which they didn't post on Thingiverse, but still managed to create something amazing. I took Deafjamb's armor pieces and modified them to make them 3D printer-friendly by slicing and cutting them down to size. A quick note: some of these pieces are quite large because I had access to an Ultimaker 2 Extended, which only the shins, thighs could fit on. However, most of the pieces will easily fit in a typical 3D printer. Sizing: These pieces were designed for my 5'10", 170-pound frame. I scaled Deafjamb's original STL files (which were created for a 5'7" person) up to 110%. Most of the pieces fit perfectly, except for these three that need some adjustments: * The "back" piece was too small and needs to be scaled up to 120% of its original size. * The "shin_1" piece is too wide (I fixed this issue with the shin_2 piece). Notes: Some parts will print very thin and may tear along the layers. I plan on fixing this in the future, especially for the shins, thighs, and ankles. Time considerations: Printing everything took at least 200 hours of 3D printing time. There's still a lot to do, like gluing, waiting for the glue to dry, sanding, painting, and figuring out how to attach all this armor to my body. I've been working on it in my spare time for 9 months now, and I'm glad to say that I'll be finished by Halloween 2019. Feel free to remix these pieces as you see fit! Please share any tips or helpful processes in the comments below. Thanks and happy trooping! Updates: * August 8th, 2019: Both ankle pieces were thickened and a thin slit was added so that they can be slipped onto your ankle. * August 14th, 2019: The correct ankle pieces were uploaded, which previously didn't have the buckles.
