First-layer z-height calibration square - 0.2mm by 100mm x 100mm
thingiverse
Just a basic calibration square, measuring 100mm by 1000mm and only 0.2mm thick. To calibrate my printer's z-height, I make adjustments every few minutes as the print progresses. When first setting up the z-height, I increase the increments more frequently to dial it in accurately. To keep track of my settings, I use a notepad to note down each adjustment and also mark the z-height directly on the print with a marker. The process works best when I've printed this calibration square 4-5 times. Initially, I jump around in 0.100mm increments. Next, I refine it further by jumping in 0.025mm increments. Then, I make even smaller adjustments of 0.010mm increments before finally getting precise with jumps as small as 0.002-0.003mm. The final print is the entire square at the selected layer height to ensure the entire print matches my desired z-height setting.
