First Layer Test Square
thingiverse
I use this test to ensure the first layer prints smoothly when switching filaments or adjusting settings. The square is 0.6mm high, allowing for three layers at a 0.2mm layer height. The square measures 56mm by 56mm. When printing, closely monitor the first layer for signs of overlapping lines. Refer to the photo "nozzle too close to bed" for an example of crowded lines. This issue may also appear in the second layer. If the nozzle is positioned too high, gaps will form between the lines. However, you want the lines to touch just enough to connect without excess overlap. To verify optimal printing settings, slice this test with a 0.2mm layer height. I have only tested it successfully with a 0.4mm nozzle.
