First layer test 100mm
thingiverse
I've been having excellent results using this simple print at 0.2mm layer height to level my bed and set first layer height. A square roughly 100mm by 100mm in size seems to do the trick with my Creality CR-10 S, and I can easily adjust its size in my slicer while keeping the Z-axis at my desired first layer height. I print it with a brim; in fact, the brim alone is all that's needed. Once printed, I check bed adhesion as I remove it from the printer, examining how well the extrusions stick together and using calipers to measure layer thickness. The design makes it simple to determine how the print adhered to the bed, so I can identify which corner is high or low. This method works for me; let me know if it has the same success with you.
