Firing Civil War Cannon (1:18 scale)

Happy Labor Day from Zanzas Toys! This year, we're honoring the Homestead Rebellion of 1892 outside Pittsburgh. Steel workers took a stand for better pay and faced off against Henry Clay Frick's 300 armed mercenaries - Pinkerton "detectives" who were sent to break up the strike by crushing union power. The Pinkertons arrived on a barge, opened fire, and sparked a fierce response from the workers, many of whom were veterans of the Civil War. With rifle fire and a powerful 20-pound cannon, they forced the Pinkertons to surrender and leave town. We're offering this replica cannon as a tribute to those who fought for our rights. The exact details are unclear, but experts suggest it may have been a 20-pound Parrot rifle, which is what we've based this on. This working cannon fires and comes with cardboard targets featuring Pinkerton strike-breakers. While the Homestead strike ultimately failed, its legacy reminds us that many people sacrificed for our freedom. This Labor Day, take time to reflect on their struggles and consider how we can build a fairer world together.
