Firestar! (Marvel comics)

FIRESTAR As a child, I always enjoyed the cartoon show "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends". This came out in 1981 when I was 8 and Firestar was above and beyond my favourite character. I was already an avid reader of comics by that point - thanks to my mum (who also chose titles for herself as well as reading ours). It also helped that British newsagents in those days sold a range of Marvel and DC comics (50p would get you a comic, a packet of crisps and some sweets), so a trip to a specialty comic shop was not needed. Comics opened a whole world of fantasy and dynamic art and a huge positive for me, they had far greater number of female characters than toys and tv (not including the stuff specifically aimed at girls), where the pickings were pretty lean. Firestar aka Angelica Jones, was specially created for the show because they couldn't get the rights to the Human Torch as I understand it. She was wonderful to my 8 year old mind. She could fly, shoot fire from her hands and was resourceful. She fought alongside Spiderman and Iceman on the front line and other than the occasional unwelcome advance from a super villain, her story lines were as action packed as the others. This Firestar is a 3 piece model and is hollowed so she can be wired and the flame in her hand can light up as shown. I like lights and I thought this would make an interesting display piece for my table at future 3D printing conventions (when such things happen again). She is resin and FDM friendly and should print without any supports and scales well. The big fully painted Firestar was printed on my Phenom and I do appreciate that not everyone has one of these supersize machines, the smaller metallic Firestar was printed on my Prusa SL1 and she scales well. The bundle includes the following: loubie3d_firestar_hollowed.stl (main figure hollowed for wiring)loubie3d_firestar_base_with_wiring.stl (base with fitting for wire)loubie3d_firestar_base_no_wiring.stl (same base but no tunnels or holes for wire)loubie3d_firestar_flame_solid.stl (The flame!)loubie3d_firestar_combined.stl (the whole model combined) Please enjoy and post here with any questions. P.S.I certainly would like to carry on with models with this theme of my childhood heroes if anyone is interested. These would cover characters from books, film and television and people from history. I'd continue the toy/tv line to start and the next featured would be Teela (although my best Teela was the one with the wonderful snake armour)
