FireMinions Wallock (the lockable wallet)
thingiverse
I'm still working on refining it, but it's a conceptual model at this point. I've got ideas to slim it down and make the dials more accessible, though. Print tests are pending because it still needs some support material. I was looking into those lockable hard-cased wallets and thought 3D printing one would be a more cost-effective approach than buying one. Plenty of thought went into this project, and I've identified a few areas that need improvement. As it stands now, I think it's functional, so I'm labeling it version 0.8 for now. Once I make some tweaks, I'll upgrade it to version 1.0. The idea was to create a pocket-sized cryptex in the shape of a wallet. Most cryptex containers are limited by space and don't fit neatly into pockets or purses, so I designed this one to be more compact and functional. It works similarly to a cryptex but offers more usable space inside. The hinge is designed to resist being pried open from the outside, and once unlocked, it can be disassembled. I used number rings from keychain cryptex and created all other parts myself. The file I submitted includes all parts, although it hasn't been optimized for 3D printing yet, so some support will be necessary to print out the case and button latch components.
