FireHD8 tablet frame door mount

All this because I wanted to bring "Alexa" home! One day I decided to bring some automation to my home and installed Alexa-compatible devices, DOTs, compatible power plugs, light switches, door sensors, and the list keeps growing. But for the kitchen, the solutions available weren't so obvious. Usually when you're doing something in the kitchen, you're standing or moving around in that space. So it would be great to have an equipment that you can interact with using only voice commands, also with a screen and preferably it should be placed in a strategic location with the screen at eye level when you stand in front of it. From the start, the overhang kitchen closet doors seemed a good candidate! Of course Amazon also thought of kitchen "troubles" and has the Echo Show, but that takes up a lot of space on the countertop. So my solution seemed more appealing. Amazon tablets have something called "show mode" that offers a simplified interface supporting Alexa voice commands. This was the way to go, I just had to design something to frame the tablet to the door and keep it powered, I also wanted to devise a solution that enables me to take the table out or slide it in the frame at any time easily. As you can see from the pictures below, I designed a frame with no back since the back will be the door surface, and the frame has cavities aligned with Fire HD speakers and mic. Also in the back, there's a carved channel to place an USB cable, once in place, just slide the tablet into the frame and since they're perfectly aligned the tablet plugs automatically to the USB plug when it gets totally inserted into the frame. Notes: 1) The USB cable wire is flat type which makes it easier to route the cable to the back of the door, and conceal the power adapter inside the closet. 2) Since it has a considerable surface, it's enough to use thin 3M double-sided adhesive tape to hold everything in place.
