Firefighting Drone
thingiverse
I started thinking about designing drones equipped with tank-style arms, similar to tanker trucks. These arms could hold large amounts of water and would not experience significant weight reduction during flight operations due to their internal compartmentalization. I thought it might be an interesting design direction. After researching existing drone designs, I discovered that many are made from folded materials. I pondered if there was a possibility of mass-producing such drones using large-scale 3D printing techniques and then transporting them on a firetruck. To put out massive fires efficiently, however, several drones would need to work together to dispense the necessary amount of water. In an attempt to achieve this synergy, I explored technologies related to swarm formations. One potential tool for guiding multiple drone operations could be based on "Femto Beacon" technology that utilizes Arduino and was showcased by one innovative maker in recent times. To date, prototypes have been printed in multiples but struggled with lifting off the water's surface after filling up, mainly due to inadequate floatation.
