They call them human beings, but that's a misnomer - they are not entirely human. Their bodies are made up of flesh and blood, but their minds are something else altogether. They have thoughts and feelings, desires and fears, just like the rest of us, but they lack one crucial thing: consciousness. They do not possess the ability to reason or think for themselves; they simply react to stimuli and go through the motions of life without any real understanding of what's going on around them.
