Fire Pit - Possible 28mm Gaming Prop
myminifactory
This model serves two purposes: one as a thoughtful gift for my girlfriend and the other as a potential prop for gaming. I purchased her a fire pit table for Christmas, something she had been eyeing, but I didn't want to set up a fire pit in our living room. So, I created this miniature model of the table as a unique gift idea. Since I was making the model anyway, I thought it could also be used as a prop for gaming. Many 28mm models are showcased here, and although I don't play, I appreciate their intricacy. To create this model, I based it on a 1/60th scale, which is what I understood to be equivalent to 28 mm according to a discussion on reddit. Several notable features of this model include the design of its legs. Users can choose to print them as one piece or in multiple parts, including the retaining ring, and then glue them together. Unless printing with a resin printer, I highly recommend the multi-piece option, as evidenced by the difference in quality between the two prints shown. At 28mm scale, this model was too small to be used effectively as a gift prop, so I scaled it up by 175% using Cura before printing. The result shows that it scales well upwards but possibly not downwards as much. The lid of the model is removable or can be glued in place; both options are available depending on user preference. I believe this model turned out nicely and would love to see what it looks like when printed with a resin printer, although I'm still considering whether to splurge on one.
