Fire House Subs Bucket Aeroponics Mister

Aeroponics is a relatively unexplored grow method that has the potential to solve a lot of the worlds issues. This design is for people who want to “supercharge” their growing while using up to 90% less water compared to conventional methods to grow.

I made this for my first aeroponics project shown here https://imgur.com/gallery/2mQM6Cb. I wanted to 3D print an aerponics sprinkler ring custom made for the cheap food safe buckets you can buy from Fire House Subs. The holes are pre made to fit nozzle I bought from amazon. This one is a bit different then the one in the first project. I reduced the sprinkler hole count from 16 to 8. 16 was way to many.

Here's the skinny:

Print with food safe PLA or PETG @ 100% infill. I made two 3mf layout files that prints the entire ring for the top and one for the bottom portion of the rings.

Assemble together. In the project above I used water proof tape and glue to attach. Do yourself a favor and assemble and then just coat the outside with a food safe resin.

Screw in the 8 nozzles into the pre made holes. You need the same type as these https://www.amazon.ca/Sprinkler-ZAILHWK-Irrigation-Hydroponic-Aeroponic/dp/B07PWM4CNP/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=misting+nozzle&qid=1616798307&sr=8-9

Once nozzles are in press and resin/glue has dried press the assembly into the top of the bucket until its a ¼" below the top.

Take the lid and cut a hole for the feed pipe to exit.

Cut hole for your net pot

Bingo bango you got yourself a Fire House bucket aeroponics system.

Download the drain and print it from here https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/61298-bucket-drain-ideal-for-hydroponics-aeroponics-setu

You will also need the following equipment:

A container to hold your nutrient solution. You chose the size.

A small pump. I'm using a DEKOPRO 1/2HP 400W sub pump I bought on amazon and it provides enough pressure for at least 5 of these pots at a time. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08CXWPJB5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A timer that you can plug the pump into. You need to be able to adjust the timer to on and off by the second. For example I have my pump run for 20 seconds and then I have it off for 1 minute and 30 seconds. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07SCK2V8W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

½" tubing for the intake https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0068MXGRS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

1" tubing for the drain. I purchased this in a hydroponics store.

Applicable, possibly 3d printed, 3 way or 4 way joints for the piping on your personal system.

This setup will work for an indoor setting or outdoor but expect to shave at LEAST 30% off regular outdoor grow time with a significant increase in yield. The roots will get big fast so choose the plant according to the size. “Tomatoes” are possible you just need to trim the roots frequently, it can be a pain. If it clogs from large roots you can use an air compressor to blow them out which also can be a pain. Hence why the reason only the brave would dare try to print

My goal is to make aeroponics more accessible to regular folks through additive technologies.

Follow Syk3DGrow on Instagram for updates.
