Fire HD8 Tablet Shade

Fire HD8 Tablet Shade

thingiverse

This thing is a tablet shade for the Amazon Fire HD8 tablet; designed using Tinkercad. The shade is foldable and easily attached or removed; it simply slides onto the tablet. The sides and top of the shade are hinged so the shade can be folded for storage. There are no pins or hardware for the hinged pieces, instead, a length of 1.75 PLA is used as the hinge pin. Both ends of the PLA piece are heated then squashed to prevent the PLA from slipping out of the hinges. There are also slots on the edge of the base to allow access to buttons on the tablet. The parts are thin to avoid adding too much more weight to the tablet so be careful during assembly. I found that working in the hinges by running a piece of 1.75 PLA back and forth through the hinges prior to assembly was a big help. Melt one end of the PLA piece before inserting it into the hinges. Next, Insert the PLA piece into the hinges, leave a small chunk protruding at the end of the hinge then melt and squash it. I hope you find this thing helpful.
