Fire Axe Combo Tool

A firefighter's essential tools include a pick-head axe, halligan pry tool, and hydrant wrench. The halligan tool is a combination of pick, adz, and prying claw or fork, often used with the flat-headed axe for door entry. The axe can be utilized as a sledgehammer to help force the halligan's adz or claw into door frames or car doors. Meanwhile, the hydrant wrench is a pentagonal tool designed specifically for opening fire hydrant valves. Fire hydrants have pentagonal nuts instead of hexagonal ones to deter tampering and theft. Water is essential for fighting fires, and having a hydrant wrench is crucial for accessing it. In my Extreme Redesign Challenge project, I combined these three tools into one by adding an adz to the axe's side, cutting a pentagonal slot in the axe head for the wrench, and including a threaded knob for adjustment. This innovative tool can be mounted on any standard wood or nylon handle, providing firefighters with increased flexibility and efficiency during emergencies.
