DIY Jersey Barrier Concrete Mold for Fingerboarders! The print is simple, 4 parts, together they form the mold. You may want to use a higher resolution for a more even surface. Since thicker layers will be more visible on the obstacle. Depending on how you print the pieces you don´t need supports. You may consider printing at with a higher density in case you want to use the mold multiple times, since the concrete can stick very hard to the mold. Postprocessing isn´t necessary, but it affects the outcome of the barrier significantly. I didn´t do it myself but I will in case I make another one. I advise to sand the surface and the edges of the mold, so the 4 single pieces fit together smoothly. In the pictures of the barrier you can see the seam where the individual pieces of the mold touched each other. I had a small buldge on this edge (I added two pictures showing this buldge). You may want to sand this down if your Print has a buldge like this to. You could also tape the slits between the mold to prevent concrete flowing out. While the seams on the side are more an optical deficit on the top they impair the slide- and grindability. For less work I suppose it is sufficient to stick a stripe of thin cardboard (e.g. with doublesided tape) in the mold to get a flat top surface. It´s better to prepare a good mold than postprocessing the concrete itself since concrete is such a strong material that it´s hard to sand it down, especially by hand. There are plenty of tutorials on how to work with concrete. I just have a few tips: You want a smaller grain size for a flat surface. And you definetily want to apply a lot of grease to prevent the concrete from sticking to the mold. To hold the mold-pieces together I recommend using some battens screwed on a board as shown in the pictures. That worked great for me, but it may be doable by simply taping the pieces together. Afterwards I could simply pull the mold from the board and remove the prints from the concrete. I additionaly coated the barrier with a spray lacquer. But you can also paint it or do whatever you think looks best. Now everything that´s left is get some wax ready and shred a session on the DIY Jersey Barrier!
