Finger Joint Jig Prototype: A Game-Changing Tool for Woodworking Enthusiasts. This ingenious jig is my first foray into prototype design and has already shown great promise. Featuring screw holes that are precision-sized and countersunk to accommodate 8g screws, this jig is engineered to work seamlessly with a 13mm straight bit and a guide bushing diameter of 17mm. As I continue to refine my designs, I may upgrade to a high-performance bit featuring a shank-mounted bearing for even more precise results. The jig's innovative design allows for the sides to be printed at half width, enabling users to join two jigs together effortlessly. While this feature does present some printing challenges, particularly with the side wings, it is a small price to pay for the convenience and versatility it offers. Check out the accompanying photos to see how to set up and use this fantastic jig. With a print time of approximately 3 hours, I'm excited to explore ways to optimize its design and reduce its thickness even further. Despite some minor issues with the tongues curving upwards during the printing process, I'm confident that it won't compromise the jig's performance.
