Fine Tip Sharpie Holder with Embedded Magnet
prusaprinters

The body of a fine tip Sharpie marker is tapered, so this is designed to either be dropped in place (if it's going to be kept in the appropriate orientation) or a gentle friction fit near the cap (if it needs to be mounted in another orientation).

There is an embedded magnet (a DIYMAG brand nominal 10mmx3mm disc magnet that is actually 10mmx2.56mm by my measurements) so it can be attached to a metal surface, but does not require glue.

There is a pocket in the model (slicer view included for illustration) which is square but will snugly hold the magnet so it's not pulled to the print head while being printed over.

The FreeCAD file for this model uses a spreadsheet so dimensions can be calculated in terms of magnet dimensions and integer multiples of nozzle diameter where appropriate. If more magnetic pull is needed, magnets could be stacked before insertion if the model is edited appropriately.

I printed this with 15% infill and 3 layer walls on a Prusa Mini+ with silver Inland PLA+ filament and used a pause print command in Prusa Slicer to add a pause at the layer that covers the magnet. (Remember: In Prusa Slicer, pause print and filament change commands occur at the beginning of the layer.) With the current dimensions, it's sized to be mostly walls, so the infill percentage is probably not crucial.

This used just over a meter of filament and took about half an hour to print (including warm-up and pause time), so something like this would probably be a great option for using the end of spool.

This is the first model I'm sharing on Printables and I created this for the Sharpie Mods flash contest.
