Fincam V1 for windsurfing
prusaprinters
Trying to get underwater footage of windsurf fins to understand them better and get different action shots. This one is non destructive for the board for GoPro 9,10,11 and relies on a small piece of clear poly carb matched exactly to the board tail. The GoPro lens sits on this. The mechanism bolts to a 20mm x 3mm piece of steel that is connected to the rear tuttle bolt which I am using to record footage of Jan Heynen's DIY GPS. I run a leash to both cameras and the GPS which loops around one of the rear foot straps. The various bolts allow accurate placement up/down/in/out to adapt to the various boards I have. Seems best to put some cable ties to pull the mech tight against rear of board to reduce vibration as it gets pretty smashed around at high speed. I run them from the GoPro mount which is used to stop vibration of the steel.Seems to give reasonable footage. The pictures of the fins with the ruler show roughly how much of the fin you get in the shot when using the GoPro wide angle. Make sure you turn off horizon levelling and all the super smooth stuff else the GoPro will crop most of the fin as it does in the following video. Video of it in action here. Have done more but haven't got around to uploading to YT yet.
