Fimi Manta tail motor mount
thingiverse
This is a replacement for the Fimi Manta rear motor mount. The original mount is sandwiched between two thin strips of plywood inside the vertical stabilizer. The motor mount fits between the plywood strips, held in place by two screws accessed from the starboard side of the vertical stabilizer. I didn't realize this, so when mine broke, I poured acetone into the top of the vertical stabilizer to loose glue that held the stub. When I removed it, the plywood strips came too. The stub on my replacement mount is 5.5 mm wide, thick enough to replace both the original mount and the two strips of plywood. I am including a file with a stub 5.3 mm wide in case you don't want that snug of a fit. I glued mine in with E6000 adhesive. The motor mount is 5.6 degrees off perpendicular to the stub that slides into the top of the vertical stabilizer. When installed, the tail motor should tip toward the LEFT (port) side of the plane. I believe the tilt is intended to counter the angular momentum of the tail motor. I printed the motor mount on its side (longest dimension parallel to the printer table) to give max strength to the mounting tab. Printing with the side touching the print table produced deformed mounting holes. To solve that, I raised it several mm above the printer table and used ZigZag supports Touching Baseplate. Support Interface was enable to make support removal easier. I used a 5mm brim for adhesion, and PLA filament.
