FilterTunsi
grabcad
The 503-gram "FilterTunsi" is our second design for separating moon regolith. Similar to its predecessor, Lunar TuniSampler, it features an occupancy sensor, servo motor, and IR camera. The device's inlet prevents particles over 23mm in diameter from entering through its sloped square-shaped net. Upon detecting materials, the connected servo motor vibrates the main filter plate, rotating it clockwise and counterclockwise for one minute before stopping. Visual confirmation from the integrated IR camera determines when to halt sampling into the container. A microcontroller or Raspberry-like nano computer on the lander/rover, along with cable connections to the main camera and sensors, is necessary for operation.
