Filtered Face Mask A 3D printable face mask with a tight fitting filter cover using a replaceable cloth type filter designed specifically for the Covid-19 epidemic. After printing the mask, seal it with epoxy or enamel to make it air tight since FDM 3D printing isn't fully sealed. I assume other 3D printing technologies are not either, but FDM printing certainly leaves openings. For a filter material, use something that can block particles down to 3 microns. I used an air filter from a house's air conditioning system with an MPR rating of 2500 equivalent to about a 13.5 MERV rating and an efficiency of about 96.5%. The inner filter box cover is a tight fit, trapping the material between them; too thick of material may not work properly. You will have to resize the cover if this one won't meet your needs. You can also try cutting enough material to cover the entire inside of the mask, but it's not necessary if you seal the mask tightly; however, it is another layer of protection and won't hurt if you can spare the material and get it to form correctly around the mask shape; I failed miserably at that task. I also couldn't make the material stick to the mask with glue and it started to come apart like cotton candy while the fibers' strings stuck to everything making a mess. The attachment points looked better with every edge filleted but they didn't print as nicely so I removed them. I would love to see what others do with this file and how they improve on it; if you do, please send me a message for me to look at your creation and/or improvements. Good luck and stay safe out there!
