This is a tweak for the V5 mask. I didn't have any to-size HEPA filters, so it seemed wasteful to hot glue a filter in permanently. This filter seal fits snugly inside the mask cover, tightly sealing a section of 1" furnace air filter to prevent air from seeping around the edges. I used 3m's 2800 MPR (MERV 14) 16x25x1 furnace air filter; this rating traps 75% - 84% of particles 0.3-1 micron, which includes viruses, and over 90% of larger particles. You can easily trim out a section to fit your needs; it should be a tight friction fit. After use, if the filter gets damp or dirty, you can easily discard it and sanitize/reuse the whole mask. No hot glue needed! You can adjust the scaling (long axis only) to ensure a secure fit; for me, 77-78mm in length was perfect for the male mask; you'd need to shrink it a bit for the smaller mask. I also reduced the height of the mask cover by 6 mm, eliminating any gap between the filter and the mask body. This ensures that the filter seal stays tight and lowers the mask's overall size and weight.
