Filter Floss Basket for Fluval Spec V Saltwater Conversion

The popular Fluval Spec V aquarium can be easily adapted to a saltwater reef tank with some modifications. To achieve this, the stock foam insert must be replaced or removed entirely since it's not ideal for saltwater environments where water flow needs to be maximized. Mechanical filtration is also unnecessary in this setup. Running the tank without the foam insert works fine but results in particles floating around in the water column, which can be a major issue. To solve this problem while minimizing disruptions to the compromised pump flow, I've designed a basket that attaches to the sump grills and holds polyester filter floss. This filter floss is easy to access for periodic rinsing. Print Settings: I printed this design in PETg at 100% infill. For optimal results, it's recommended to avoid using PLA if your tank's pH level exceeds 7.8. There are two versions available, one being larger than the other.
