Filmholder for Epson V600
thingiverse
This is a custom 35mm film holder designed specifically for the Epson V600 scanner. While it may work on other models as well, I've only tested it on this particular scanner and can confirm its effectiveness. Processing my own film used to be a tedious task, but with this holder, there's a noticeable improvement in focus compared to the original one that came with the scanner - or maybe that's just me being operator-challenged. In any case, using this custom holder has significantly sped up my scanning process, as I'm not constantly fiddling with the film to get it flat. The holder consists of four main parts: a rectangular base plate, two swiveling glass clamps, and an optional corner section that mirrors the calibration recess in the Epson original. The square holes on the corner piece are intended for saving filament during printing, but I don't use this part during scanning. You'll also need four screws to secure the clamps - I used 4mm bevel-headed screws, which are equivalent to #8 3/16-inch screws. While I plan to replace these with nylon screws eventually, they've worked fine for me through 20 rolls of film scanning without scratching the glass. To assemble the holder, ensure that the screws don't protrude from the base and touch the scanner's glass surface. Additionally, you'll need a piece of glare-free glass - I sourced mine from betterscanning.com: http://www.betterscanning.com/scanning/insert35.htm. Keep in mind that I have no affiliation with Better Scanning, but their products have consistently impressed me with their excellent quality.
