A pair of these clamps, mounted back-to-back on a box edge, securely hold and relieve strain for 5/16" (8mm) OD tubing. For my filament feeder box, I designed them to support the tube laterally. The neck's thickness isn't crucial for strength; it was increased to ensure enough print time per layer to prevent slumping. The "cool" setting in Skeinforge combined with a DC motor extruder resulted in unique artwork due to the cool-down orbit creating an additional wall with an unusual shape. To refine the neck, I adjusted Alibre's STL export settings to reduce excessive facets, initially it had 36 faces. I suspect that optimizing the "maximum deviation" might have allowed for a rounder base, although the specific dimension unit is undisclosed – I assumed millimeters but could be centimeters.
