Film Holder for Scanning with a DSLR
thingiverse
Use this template for crafting a film holder when scanning films using a digital camera. Cut pieces from mdf or other materials, with the top right rectangle made of white acrylic as a light diffuser (optional). Red lines represent engraving, while black lines are for cutting. The design includes two film holders - one for 135 and another for 120 type films. To avoid scratches, tape surfaces where films come in contact with mdf. Assemble the holder by layering mdf film holder pieces, double-sided tape, thick paper or thin cardboard strips, and more mdf film holder pieces. Align these using the engraved lines on the mdf. To secure the camera, glue a long horizontal board to a small vertical strip with triangles, ensuring a 90° angle. Use a 1/4 screw for tightening the camera. Secure the camera holder, film holder, and white acrylic light diffuser (if used) with small plastic spring clamps. Illuminate scanning by placing a flash behind the holder or using another light source. Set your camera to warm white balance settings.
