Filastuder Vertical Hopper
thingiverse
Warning - I noticed that feed was slow and am simply leaving up this version for inspiration. If you want me to alter the part to fit your design, just message me. I required a vertical hopper design for my filastuder that fitted around my custom mounting. Taking a transport phenomena class recently, I designed this with some of those principles in mind (and it looks cooler). I forgot to include a way to stop it from sliding down the filastruder iron pipe so I just zip tied it. I will design a hopper to attach to this piping and acetone weld it to this part. Post-Printing I printed this part in 4 sections. I cleaned them up some and welded them together using acetone. I directly applied acetone to the interior to smooth it and allow for plastic pellets to flow easier. How I Designed This I designed this in CREO Parametric 3.0. For the bent piping, I used a swept blend of a rectangle and a circle. The design took longer than I anticipated, but I learned more features of CREO and it turned out very nice. This key factors in designing the pipe are reducing cross sectional area and downward slope across the length to promote a consistent gravity feed to my filastuder.
