Filastruder Vertical Bottle Hopper
thingiverse
I've been trying out a few different hoppers for my Filastruder and came across an excellent vertical mounting option at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:455026 . All I needed were some minor adjustments as follows:\nHopper Shoot:\nI decided to use an empty Coke bottle, which allows me to see all the pellets inside. I replaced the feeding tube with a gradual transition that results in a snug fit between the bottle end and the mount. This design is compatible with a 1.25L Coke bottle; feel free to experiment with other sizes.\nAdditionally, I combined the Lower Part A and the Hopper Shoot from the original design, as I found the Lower Part A to be weak at its thin edges due to the feeding cavity. Integrating these two parts rectified this issue.\nI also trimmed a bit of excess material from the inside guide, which was longer than necessary for my pipe's hole.\nLower Part B:\nI reinforced this part by giving it extra thickness.\nShoot Door:\nThe original door design was impressive – I appreciated being able to empty the shoot at any time. Unfortunately, while extruding some filament overnight, I experienced an undesirable door malfunction: the pellets had shifted due to auger movement and ended up stuck in a tough spot... and now they're still coming out of my carpet! So, I revised the door with a narrow channel that accommodates a rubber band – a convenient solution for containing stray pellets.\nEnjoy!\n14/12/2015 EDIT: A photo has been added showing my black hopper mounted on Filastruder.\n24/1/2016 EDIT: A lid was added for the 1.25L bottle with the bottom removed.\nThis Project\nSolidworks – STL files were imported, modified as needed, and exported again in STL format.
