Filastruder Fan / Filament Blower
thingiverse
This is a blower to cool down the extruded filament. I needed more cooling power, so I upgraded from the small fan that came with the Filastruder - it just wasn't doing the job fast enough. Mounting a 92mm fan directly underneath was an improvement, but most of the air was too dispersed and looked pretty ugly. This fan mount/blower/thingy focuses the air to cool the filament. That helps with diameter consistency as well as allowing higher temperature extrusion - in other words, faster extrusion. To build this blower, you'll need a 92mm fan (about $8) and some small self-tapping wood screws. If you have any suggestions, let me know! UPDATE 1.1: I made the base columns taller to increase air intake, and shortened the top hood to accommodate the change in base height.
