Filastruder :: Economical Filament

Our lab acquired a filastruder and I was assigned to construct a frame for it. We have an impressive space that frequently hosts visitors, including investors and school children, so we needed a professional-looking enclosure that also displayed the filastruder's inner workings. Additionally, it had to function independently. To meet these criteria, we built a sturdy frame showcasing the machine's mechanics. We used 20mm 8020 for the frame and 1.5mm aluminum for brackets. The filastruder is a successful Kickstarter project that makes filament from ABS/PLA pellets, reducing costs to just 10% of regular prices. I'm considering designing a spooling system compatible with both the official enclosure and my current model. For materials and components, we relied on McMasters, a helpful supplier. The official enclosure design can be found on Thingiverse.
