This top cover shields the optical filament sensor from harsh light. Installed LED lights on the frame above the extruder were interfering with the optical filament sensor, triggering false alarms. The printer would suddenly pause and eject filament randomly whenever the lights were turned on during printing. The sensor proves sensitive to extreme lighting conditions like direct sunlight or intense LED illumination.
