Filaments.ca EconoFil™ Refill Master Spool for Small Print Beds
thingiverse
This is a custom-made spool designed to be compatible specifically with the EconoFil filament spool refills by Filaments.ca, comprising multiple components that can be printed on small print beds. The entire spool halves are assembled using screws for added strength. Two halves are connected using four machine screws and nuts; it's also possible to keep the spool together after a refill is loaded with just two diametrically opposite screws. Filament end holders are positioned through the edges of the spool's wings, featuring curved holes that oppose the filament coil to ensure a secure hold without causing bending or kinking. The design consists of two parts - the central hub and the wing. Printing requirements include two hubs and eight wings. To assemble the spool, use the following hardware: #4 x 3/4" Flat head wood screws (16 pieces) #6-32 x 2" Round or pan head machine screws (four pieces) #6-32 (5/16") Machine screw nuts (four pieces) Attach four wings to each spool half using #4 screws. No glue was used on my printed wings, and the finished spool seems sturdy enough. Insert nuts into the hexagonal pockets at the bottom of each hub; they fit snugly without needing glue. Your spool is now ready for use. Load a refill onto the spool, add the second spool half, then secure together with machine screws. Please note: This Master Spool design is not compatible with RichRap's MasterSpool specification and is designed exclusively for use with Filaments.ca's EconoFil refills.
