This is a walkthrough to extract 1.75 mm filament from a box (in my case, IKEA Samla) with minimal resistance. It should also work with 3mm filament, but this has not been tested. Suitable ball bearings are: SS 688 W4 Inner diameter: 8mm Outer diameter: 16mm Width: 4mm Particularly when working with very rough filament such as Proto Pasta Stainless Steel or HT-PLA, it is extremely easy to extract the filament from the box using this method.
