Filament Winder/Transfer

Filament Winder/Transfer

I have several three-dimensional printers, and I needed a way to easily move filament from one spool to another so that two or more printers can print from the same spool of filament. I use Hatchbox brand filament, and their hub design makes this quite simple. I used a 1/4x20 threaded rod, nuts, and washers to create the drive shaft, and a wing nut to secure the empty spool to the shaft. Any drill can be used that can handle a 1/4 inch drill bit. I held a standard spool holder in a bench vise for the full spool. It works very well and is quick to transfer the filament. It also takes up minimal space when not in use. Use at least 50 percent infill and 2mm shell to print.
