Filament Storage Support
thingiverse
I started having problems with my filament taking on moisture and saw many people were using air-tight containers with desiccant. So, this was my solution to my filament storage. I purchased a 5-pound can of desiccant that I simply poured into the bottom of my container. I left it loose, so when it's time to recharge it, I can pour it into a pan and place it in the oven. What you need is an air-tight container. I used a Sterilite 18-1/2 x 14-7/8 x 11-1/8 item number 19334304, 32-quart size. Here are the materials required: M5-8 screws x 16, M5 nuts x 16, 3/4-inch PVC, 11-1/2 inches x 2, PVC supports x 4, and desiccant (I used a 5-pound can). Using the container listed, I placed the supports 3-1/4 inches from the sides and 5 inches from the bottom. I also use a mini digital hygrometer that I keep in the container. Not shown is my mini digital hygrometer. I was amazed at how fast the humidity dropped once I closed the lid with fresh desiccant. Note that the rolls overlap about an inch. Next time, I will try a slightly larger container. Enjoy! - Shins
