Filament Storage Solution (IKEA GLES)
thingiverse
I was excited about the SAMLA idea and managed to keep my mischievous cat at bay. He's assisting me in some pictures, but I had to find a backup solution when our local IKEA store ran out of stock. The GLES option was a good alternative, as it has similar dimensions and matches my printer's green color. To complete the setup, I got a steel pipe that fits perfectly with my M3D spools. Using ABS-R, I printed out hangers from Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:743280) and was pleased with the result - they seem strong enough to hold my filament in place. However, my screws were slightly too long, so I had to use a Dremel tool to shorten them and cut the pipe to the correct length. Next, I attached filament feeders from Thingiverse (http://www.thingaverse.com/thing:814597) using tiny cable ties, filled the bottom with silica pouches, and loaded my spools into it. This setup can easily carry eight spools. I'd like to thank wstein and stephenmhall for their designs. Printer Settings: * Printer: M3D * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: Medium * Infill: Low
