As a dedicated owner of a 3D printer, the two most critical elements for successful 3D printing are undoubtedly the 3D printer itself and the high-quality printing materials, specifically filaments. I've consistently relied on PLA for the majority of my printed projects, recognizing that other printers may utilize various materials. However, for my design requirements, PLA has proven to be an economical and suitable option. To maintain optimal conditions for the PLA filament, it's essential to store it in a container that is completely free from moisture. Following extensive research, including contributions here on Thingiverse, I've designed my own cost-effective Filament Storage Box, which not only ensures a near-moisture-free environment but also allows me to keep the filament within the box during printing.
