Filament Storage Bin
thingiverse
This storage bin holds up to three rolls of one-kilogram filament, complete with a lid and inner stand. The storage bin itself features slits on the side, approximately three inches or seventy-five millimeters apart, allowing you to easily identify which color filaments are stored within. The inner stand is placed inside the storage bin, holding all three rolls of filament in place on its holder. A simple ribbon or string can then be tied through the hole at the top of the stand, enabling easy access to the rolls of filament by lifting the stand and pulling them out of the bin. Once you have accessed the rolls, the lid can be placed back on top, with the stand and all three rolls of filament still inside. After loading this design into Cura, it incorrectly informed me that my Ender 3 would not be able to print it due to its size. However, I knew this was incorrect because the Ender 3 has a maximum build volume of approximately two hundred thirty-five by two hundred thirty-five by two hundred fifty millimeters. After some research and experimentation, I believe I have found the solution to this problem. To fix the issue, I made the following adjustments: Firstly, I navigated to the expert settings in Cura and turned off "avoid printed parts" under the travel section. Secondly, I changed the build plate adhesion type from skirt or brim to none in the basic settings. This setting prevents the printer from printing a test skirt around the base of your print. Please note that this storage bin is large enough to hold three one-kilogram rolls of filament stacked on top of each other, making it over nine inches tall. As such, it will take a very long time to print all three parts, especially considering its size. Cura estimates that printing all three parts will require around 850 grams of filament and approximately four days of continuous printing once you have another roll of filament available.
